| About Us
Christians Helping Drug Abusers is a legal nonprofit organization founded by Donald Kinnard. The purpose of the organization is to bring families back together that has been destroyed by alcohol and other drug abuse. Alcoholism and drug addiction is taking a toll on the American family. As a result 8.3 million children in the United States, approximately 11 percent, live with at least one parent who is in need of treatment for alcohol or drug dependency. Children whose parents abuse alcohol or drugs are almost three times more likely to be verbally, physically or sexually abused. They need our help.
Christians Helping Drug Abusers is a hand's on organization. We go into communities with our message of hope. When someone with a drug problem gets our flier they are more than likely to be encouraged to ask for help. We offer referral services and we have alcohol and other drug abuse assessments. The more people we reach with our message of hope, the more people we have a chance to bring closer to God. Children are the ones who benefit the most when the abuser calls for help. Please make no mistake about it, children are our first responsibility. We must however, look at this problem realistically. The whole community suffers due to drug addiction. That is why Christians Helping Drug Abusers take a different approach to providing information about resources and services to the public. This web page receives thousands of visits every month. That is because we seek out those in need of help. We have encouraged many people to take the first step.
Our organization delivers the message of recovery to thousands every month. That is what makes us different from other organization. Each day we go into communities with our fliers which gives a message of hope. We go door to door talking to mothers, fathers, teens and young adults. Letting them know that God loves them and that He has a purpose for their life, and that help is just a phone call away. But lets be honest, we know and understand that people are not willing to freely open up about alcohol and other drug abuse problems in their family. That is why our fliers are so effective. People want help, they need help, but for the most part the abuser dose not feel the kind of support he or she needs to take the first step.
When someone reads our fliers rather they are in the comfort of their own home, on the job, or where ever they may be, they can feel this message expresses compassion, support and understanding for the person who suffers. Because we know that abuse affects the whole family and the community, (CHDA) take each opportunity very seriously. Not only will you find us going door to door, we are on ‘L’ trains, buses, on the streets and looking everywhere we can to offer our support. We have had great success over the past year by achieving our goal of helping people take the first step toward getting their life back on track. There is, however, more work to be done.
